From Hampton Roads to Dumfries, veterans motorcycle club members are hosting Ride for the Pirate, a fundraiser to support the educational trust fund of (Ret.) USCG LTCD Jose "Cuervo" Rodriguez, who died of brain cancer after a long career as a rescue swimmer, trainer and team leader for law enforcement efforts and anti-terrorism team leader.

The Dumfries ride, closest to Jeffersonia, begins with 10 a.m. registration at the Dumfries commuter lot at State Route 234 and I-95, on the left across from McDonald's.

The ride leaves at 11 a.m. and winds up at 1:30 p.m. at Tim's II Restaurant and Crabhouse "for carousing, plundering grub and grog in Joe's honor." Dutch treat.
