According to the Associated Press, Big Dog Motorcycles, which produced top-notch, large-displacement, V-twin cruisers and choppers, has been foreclosed upon by its bank and has gone out of business.
According to the Wichita Eagle newspaper in Big Dog's home town of Wichita, Kansas, Big Dog has been dissolved and a new company, BDM Performance Products, has been formed to provide parts and gear for the 25,000 or more Big Dogs still running the road.
In 2005, the company had 300 employees and built more than 5,000 bikes. The recession, however, took its toll on the custom manufacturer.
