Members of the Patriot Guard Riders, the loose-knit amalgamation of motorcyclists formed to fight obnoxious protesters at military funerals, will escort fallen Airman First Class Zachary Ryan Cuddeback, of Greene County, to his memorial service, the group announced.
A1C Cuddeback, USAF, was killed in an attack on a bus filled with U.S. military personnel at a German airport. His service will be Wednesday at the Charlottesville Ice Park.
The group will meet at the Water Street Parking Garage by 10:45 am for a briefing and final ride arrangements.
"We have one thing in common besides motorcycles. We have an unwavering respect for those who risk their very lives for America’s freedom and security," the Guard states on its website. "Our main mission is to attend the funeral services of fallen American heroes as invited guests of the family."
The Guard started in 2005 in response to Westboro Baptist Church family who were protesting military funerals. The Guard is a mix of members from different clubs and independents.
The group has no political affiliation, no club affiliation and no manufacturer affiliation. Its riders who show up to support families during times of grief.
