Ride with the bears, help the kids

By rainman Print Preview

The bears will be hauling bears and want you to join in the fun.

The Virginia State Police Division I Motorcycle Unit is participating in the 28th Annual Teddy Bear Run on Saturday, along with 2,000 other riders. The affair raised more than $20,000 last year for the Children's Hospital Fund and generated donations of more than 1,500 teddy bears.

Sponsored by the Blue Knights Virginia III MC, technically known as "a non-profit fraternal organization consisting of active and retired law-enforcement motorcycle enthusiasts," the affair will begin at Colonial Harley-Davidson, 1701 Temple Parkway in Colonial Heights, and include a 10 a.m. VSP cone course riding demo.

The po-po, you know, can really throw the hog around.

The City of Richmond and Colonial Heights Police Departments along with the Prince George County Police Department will also participate in this event.

Registration is at 8:30 a.m., the cones at 10 a.m. and the ride from Colonial Heights H-D to Children's Hospital will crank up at 1 p.m. The ride ends at Children's Hospital  in Richmond, at 2924 Brook Road.
