Wrong and loose screws and nasty chafing has Ducati's Italian Mother calling home the brand's 2010 1200 Multistrada for a series of safety recalls authorized by the National Highway Transportation Safety Administration.
On 196 Multis, the wrong screw may have been installed in the steering heads. That could lead the steering head to come loose during norma operation and "adversely affect the driver's ability to steer," a bad thing on a bike that already adversely affects a driver's ability to retain his or her driver's license.
Another 495 Multis are coming home for a little Loctite to keep the center stands from coming loose during normal operation. A suddenly displaced center stand on the Blue Ridge Parkway on a Multistrada could be a statistic.
And, finally, another 396 Multis are coming home for a tie down of the throttle cable. Seems it could be subject to chafing against the radiator and we all know how uncomfortable chafing is. It's even more so when it results in full on throttle from a cable cramp or no throttle from a break.
Some of the Ducs may need all three recalls, some may need none, so contact your dealer or the company for more info.
