Saturday is a busy day for anyone wanting to throw a leg over and ride.
In an attempt to prove that, despite what television would try and convince us, poker is not a spectator sport, a series of poker runs is on for Jeffersonian SOBs.
Perhaps the biggest is the Charlottesville-Albemarle SPCA’s Cruise for Critters, sponsored jointly by the SPCA and local Street Thunder Cats MC. The run is open to all brands of motorcycles, said SPCA's annual giving manager, Chris Roberson.
SOBs will meet in the southeast parking lot behind Charlottesville Fashion Square Mall between 8 and 9 a.m. to register. A complimentary breakfast courtesy of Chick-fil-A will be served. Around 9:30, bikers will begin departing on a scenic route that includes stops at The Batesville Store, Dogwood Restaurant, and Jarman’s Sportcycles. The ride concludes at McGrady’s Irish Pub in Charlottesville, where prizes will be awarded.
Also up is the second annual poker run for the Madison Senior Center from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. The ride starts and ends at the American Legion post in Madison and includes a classic car poker run as well. The winner's prize will be an overnight stay for 2 at Graves Mtn Lodge.
Music, a senior ladies wet T-Shirt contest and a delicious meal prepared by the Lodge are included for the $10.00 entry fee. For the poker run, cost is $15.oo fee for the drivers and passenger $10.00
The Palmyra poker run for the volunteer fire depart goes on at 9 a.m., starting at the station at 14591 James Madison Hwy.
$15 per hand, registration at 9 am and last bike out by 11 am. Bike judging with trophies and vendors, music, food and, of course, tattoos. Rain Date is June 5, 2010.
In Augusta County, the Cruiser Club USA Chapter 08 will hold their first "Ride for Ride with Pride."
"Ride with Pride helps challenged children and adults overcome huge obstacles through horsemanship. The ride starts and ends at the Augusta County Community Center/Wilson Middle School in Fishersville. First bike out at 10 a.m. $15.00 for first hand and a second hand is $5.00.
So get on your motors and ride.
