Honda to go electric?

By rainman Print Preview

It's not much, just a little blurb on Bloomberg.com that comes from Japanese source that has a source in Honda, but it could be that Honda is going to be peddling (as opposed to pedaling) electric motorcycles.

Check it out at http://www.bloomberg.com/apps/news?pid=20601101&sid=aTYFkS.j__W0

The report says the cycle will have moped performance. That's not very exciting.

Still, Honda putting out a plug-in (Underwriter's Laboratories-approved, no doubt) is entirely possible. We already have a couple of chargers out there with Zero Motorcycles and Enertia.  Heck, Zero was recently in Vail, Colorado, showing off itsoff-road bike.  You can check that story out in the Vail Daily at http://www.vaildaily.com/article/20100411/NEWS/100409535/1078&ParentProfile=1062

Problem with electric scoots is that they need to be charged about every 50 miles, which is OK if you're commuting to and from work about five miles each way. It's not so good if you have to hop on a run to Staunton to pick up parts for your Blast and then come back.

We'll just have to keep watching.
