Triumph, from old school to now-cool

By rainman Print Preview

The first bike I ever rode on was a Triumph Tiger 650, clinging to Dad, the wind blowing in my hair.

No, there were no helmet laws in 1966 and, yes, I had  hair.

Trumpets were still Marlon Brando "Wild Bunch" cool and Hondas were tiny tiddlers with squares riding them and Beach Boys singing about them while Yamaha made pianos, Suzuki made, uh, whatever and Kawasaki made people giggle 'cause there was a cow in it.

OK, so maybe you don't remember The Day. The Atlanta Journal Constitution does, though ... http://www.ajc.com/business/triumphs-revival-at-full-287994.html.

Trumpets have come a long way to get back to the top. They offer something different than in-line fours -- ain't no flies on an I-4, but alternatives are also welcome  --  and they're fun to ride.
