Buell motorcycles are officially kaput, toast, outta-here, gone, history, bye-bye.
This past weekend they sold everything in the factory, from a few motorcycles including a Triumph, a Ducati and some other toy to the ceiling fixtures and every kind of motorcycle-making tool imaginable.
Clutch and Chrome (http://www.clutchandchrome.com/News/MotorcycleNews100053.htm) was there and reports on the issue.
Meanwhile, Erik Buell is rebuilding 1125r bikes to 1190r bikes and racing them across Europe as part of the Erik Buell Racing company, having licensed what he needs from Harley. The 1125rs are good for racing because they were mass-produced and fit into the rules. Bikes seem to be doing well.
No Buells will be made for the street, however. For some of us, that means looking for something that handles well, is quick and attacks turns without being the usual inline four is a lot harder. Hey, is that a Duc over there?
