The Beltway

Saturday Evening

Thumbnail : Saturday Evening

The road up to Snowshoe is a gorgeous winding road that offers brief glimpses of the surrounding valley. It is fairly steep and takes you up to the top of the mountain. If you need to make a phone call this is the place to do it. It is the only cell phone reception area [...]

Saturday

Thumbnail : Saturday

Is there a test, a procedure, or exam to determine if one has been cursed? It is a very serious affliction to consistently wake up 5 minutes before the alarm every morning. On this day though I was motivated. I had a sick bike that needed my help. I have a sickness that only the [...]

Friday

Thumbnail : Friday

Sometimes events come together to make for a fantastic weekend. In my case I had to put my bike back together before my perfect weekend could start. It is an awful feeling turning the key on your baby and she responds by doing nothing, nothing at all. Such are the joys of riding a near [...]

Geez. Louise, you let the bike sit for a couple of rain days on dirt pad next to the [...]

Outlanders Luau

Yesterday I headed out to Outlanders in Luray, Va to check out their 09 luau and man it was a hoot. Beer, babes, bikinis, and hula dancers. Oh yea, and bikes, lots of bikes. Rt 340 is a great ride even if you don’t have a destination in mind. It snakes along the Shenandoah Park [...]

Hatton Ferry: Time is running out

In operation since 1870 the ferry is old. In that time is has been destroyed, rebuilt, destroyed and resurrected yet again. A hurricane and flood couldn’t kill the ferry but a politician’s pen may give it the final deep-six. Rainman wrote up a little piece on the ferry a little while ago. You can read [...]
